The only problem with people trying to be the vampire and live that said 'vampire lifestyle' is nobody knows for certain of what that vampire lifestyle actually is. A lot of what people think they know comes from hollywood XP

Exactly, if people took time to study the mythology and pick apects that appear in several different cultures then they may be able to formulate a semi-valid opinion, I've looked at so many different mythologies and come to some conclusions and am actually writing 3vampire novels at the moment but they aren't soley about vampires they have werewolf mythology and one even has references to demons.

giggles there is just so much myth and fiction one would never be sure what really was true I read hundreds of books of vampire and in every boks there are different legends and stories and types of life style just as there are with human. which makes sense because in most stories vampire were once human

i forget wat its called but there is a real desease that has sympotoms such as fur instead of body hair slightly sharper teeth and somewhat general gigantism could this be the ancient source of werewolves. also an important note the mythology ive seen on weres was not really limited to wolves. there is a theory on vampires that the myth started with sick diabetics who when low on sugar and act drunk or even animalistic and although they probably wouldthrow it up drinking blood might even up their blood sugar i dont really believe either way on vampires or werewolves but i think that the answer most of the time is kids are stupid and twilight sucks .... i like vampire books but twilight destroyed it and turned the vampire into something cuddly even vampire romance novels are better than that because in those they are still monsters sometimes they try to be good but they are still monsters in those (insert several expletives) twilight

O.o I have read the same very interesting idea of vampires as fallen angels, love that myth stuff.  It does sound like the original poster had some friends who did not understand his being a witch and created this thing where they were other beings.  Very silly sounding stuff.  As said psych-vamps our very real and learning some of those techniques is a good idea just so you know what to protect yourself from.  Lots of big cities have vampire clubs and groups hanging out in dark rooms but they have no supernatural powers beyond some that have taken witchcraft and made it into their own system of beliefs.  Lots of blood rituals and voodoo like spells.  Look back and notice how every new vampire/werewolf generation becomes like the book/movie.  In the 80s Ann Rice Interview with a Vampire books set off a bunch or people acting like the people int he story.  That should be your first sign if someone basis their being a Vampire on something from a book.  Today it is funny how all Vampires can walk around in the sun.

Werewolves in the past turned out to be people affected by rabies and/or mental disease.  Some may have just been serial killers.  There are werewolf clans today that paractice much of what the vampires do with a more natural approach.  One group meets every full moon and runs naked through the woods ending with a feast of food and wine.  So what ever makes them happy and as long as they are not hurting anyone so be it.

True Blood, the HBO show, has inspired all sorts of new witches, vampires, and shapeshifters.

A small group of people running naked through the moon-lit woods, and ending their fun with a feast of food and wine?

.......... Shocked..........

I was not aware that OTHER people did that these days, but under the label of "Lycanthropy" Wink Cheesy Tongue.

Funny thing is there really is a group that does that.  I met them a few years ago at an East Coast Pagan festival.  It was a camp out event and at night around the campfire the discussion came up and the ritual was described.  They hold their runs at parks where you backpack in, and a private property area in West Virginia.

Yes Averno, I'm sure that there's lots of people that do that sort of a thing, ALL OVER,......we all just don't often get to hear anything about it, I'm betting.
I always had my suspicions about some of the goings ons at Camp David, Washington D.C. Wink

i often wonder if im some breed of non-sanguine vampire... switched at birth, perhaps more to the adoption story than they're tellin me?   great

no matter how hard i try to stay in the day, i always wind up back on a nocturnal pattern.  the sun sometimes hurts, burns, too bright, too much, even through covered windows.  i adore the nightsky, and always seem to feel more awake at night, no matter how the sleeping pattern is set at the time.

but, whether it's light or dark out, i rarely go outside these days, so cavorting skyclad thru the woods isn't one of my current options;  and although i dont sparkle unless im doused in body glitter, it has been known happen more often than one'd think...

hmmz...

or i'm just a weirdweird people.

Good evening[smile].
Either way I would still hazard to say that you are still in good company here, dear lady[smile]. If I had to choose between being one or the other I'd have to say that I'm far more of a Werewolf kind of a person. I love the day, but I also love the night, especially the Gloaming times. As a youth, when I wasn't pretending to be a Dinosaur, a Dragon, or something else, I loved playing at being some kind of a Were-beast,...perhaps a Weretiger, or something. But in the end I always knew that it was naught more than a fantasy, and it wouldn't take naught more than to stumble upon another person in the woods I was playing in to make me drop off my facade of whatever beast I was pretending to be. See, the people I'd worry about are those who get soooo involved in the fantasy that they forget to, or just wont.

Gloaming? Were-beast?  With that word try looking up Silkie  A Celtic were seal. There is a seal colony at Dunvegan castle ( my Clan's ) No stories about the MacLeods and silkies at least on the internet.  But would they tell?

Good evening[smile].
I have read about those Silkies, Ken Ra, in my many books on Fairy Folk[smile]. But as I am in Florida, there are no seals. The closest we have to anything like that are River Otters, and they just never struck me as violent/aggressive enough to satisfy my little boy fantasies as I was lurching through the muggy jungle/swamplands.
