I hope this is the right place to post this. She had a very brief and hard battle with cancer, and died an hour after my friend brought her home. I went outside tonight, lit a candle, and spoke with the Goddess about her passing, and once I was done speaking, the candle went out, and I heard the faint sound of bells.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? I felt a peace and a calm.

That was a lovely thing to do for her. When a person seperates from their body for the last time they need to draw off energy from the environment to complete their transition. Things like freshly cut flowers and candles serve as a good source. It sounds like the goddess accepted your offering of flame on behalf of the lady who passed.

It was a good and kind thing to do.   engel016

Years ago my mother in law was diagnosed with advanced cancer. She lived for a week. I got her a balloon that said " neyya neyya I have a Balloon and you don't " When she died i took it outside and released it into the night air. Comforting someone who is dying is the hardest thing I have ever done as a priest.

It was great you could come to terms with this and help your friend's mother on the next stage of her journey.

I Am

A blossoming Green Witch am I,With plant wisdom and magic to share.
A child of the flowers am I,With blossoms budding from my hair.
A friend of the Fairies am I,A crown of leaves and flowers I wear.
A daughter of the Earth am I,Walking Her ways with feet ever bare.
A sister of the waters am I,Flowing wild and free without a care.
At one with the blowing winds am I,Singing softly through the midnight air.
A keeper of the fire am I,Let me kindle your passions if you dare.
Connected in Spirit with You am I,Fused together as one in prayer.

Good afternoon.
Well done, InTheLight.
How is your friend holding up? Never underestimate the importance and positive effects of being there for him/her through this difficult time.
