My girlfriend is being haunted by a past memory that is a bad dream, she refuses to tell me and I fear I know what it is and can tell its ptsd dreaming, but last night she woke up in tears and well good energy transfers can't be done every second. Is there any way to not prevent bad dreams but ease her in her sleep for her to have more dreams that are well, nicer. I am going to give her catnip tea next time we are together, I want to push good dreams over bad.

Awww, poor girl. It sounds like you care about a lot about her, and that's a good start towards her healing.  A nicely scented pillow or other aroma therapy items might be nice.

If you have a few bucks to spare you can take her out to look at white opal jewelry. Gold with a (real vs. synthetic) white opal can be a very powerful "good dream" tool. I got a nice one on clearance for about $40. There is a lot of superstition around opals and a lot of spiritual types wont work with them, but traditionally they were the highest form of "lucky" stone and were said to drive off bad dreams.

She likes candles I am trying to get her into incense, but it being stronger and a pillow isn't hard, its just the season and once its done taking it to her when she goes to school 4 hours away vs a 1 hour drive in the woods, which getting lost in the woods is fun. Opal would be nice, I can check the store around me for that.

I have heard it said that when she starts a bad dream gently stroking her back leads her out of it. I do not know but it might work.

Yes that could work, or you could do healing without touching her.  Allow you hands to run over her head, face and body about 4 - 6 inches away, and start with a blessing at her crown chakra till you feel the warmth of the energy build enough for you to move your hands slowly over her.  You could also direct the lilac ray of energy over her as you work to remove the restlessness.

Place under her pillow a mojo bag with Rosemary flowers and lavender for peaceful sleep.

If things are still hectic take an acorn or Oak twig and say:
"Oak Tree tall, Oak tree strong, guard me and mine against all wrong".  Place it in a soft bag and place next to your bed.  If her nightmares return you might need to renew the spell.

I guess you haven't got to the bottom as to what is bothering her enough to pull through into her dreams??

All these options can be done, except for she isn't spiritual on the level most people here are, so it is a bit tough, but keeping her safe is a number one must and making her realizes dreams are not evil is another.

She doesn't have to be spiritual.  That is the beauty of natural healing - you can do the non-touch healing as she sleeps, and the other stuff is easily explainable you simply say - you have heard these old wives tales from way back when your Grand-mother was a wee grass hopper and you have heard they work like a charm with bad dreams.  Let her help you with the bag of Rosemary and lavender it will be exciting and will make it far more powerful.  Just don't tell her it is "Pagan" - not if she is not ready for it yet.  However that being said it will still work even if she is not a pagan, as it is a gentle Holistic spell using Universal Energy which is available for all mankind, irrespective of belief system - and that is the beauty of it!

Good luck!

I don't have any awesome ritual that will help (wish I did), but I do have a little advice.
My husband and I both have PTSD dreams- for very different reasons.  Time does help- I used to have them nightly certain times of the year.  When I met my husband he had a rule that if he was sleeping, and I was coming into the room he was sleeping in, I had to wake him from the door.  If I didn't it could've been very bad for me.  It's been a long time since I've had to even think about that.
Granted, there are still times that we're reminded of the past and the bad dreams resuface.  The more she can let go, the better it will get.  Easy to say, but not so easy to do, unfortunately.

Intolerable memories can be eliminated by the act of not thinking about them consistently. The memory starts to surface you refuse to remember it. It takes years of determined hard work but it does work. ( personal knowledge ) There are also chemical ways to remove particular memories that are experimental.  ( this scares me )
