Anyone notice how most my posts are in this category? Any way, my friend is auditioning for a solo in her choir. She has a very high range and though most the song is high, there are a few parts that drop low for her range. Her problem is that her throat gets horse and herd yawn space tightens up a bit; this guess is based off of my observation of her practicing the song. I was looking for some herbal remedies that just sooth the throat or vocal chords a bit before her performance or at least to ease a sore throat.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated

Hot water and lemon.  It's not appetizing, but it's always helped me.

"You're a witch.  There's never been a time when witches were cuddly and embraced by their people, my dear.  Every culture has had walkers-between and that frightens people. We're wild, with fire in our blood, wine in our bellies and the moon in our souls.  We're the frightening people who talk to spirits in the woods. "

I used to sing in choir in high school, and I second the hot water and lemon.  You can switch it up for an herbal (non-caffeinated) tea, or add other citrus fruits like oranges, if you want - the acid in the lemon is the key, in my experience.  Incidentally, vitamin D is supposed to help prevent upper respiratory diseases - tell your friend to drink milk or something else fortified as well.  If she isn't vegetarian, oily fish (tuna, sardines, salmon) are good to eat.

Might Google or at least check this page out: http://vocalhealthcare.com/

One other recommendation is to use the search button I thought I had posted a reply in another post almost like this so I ran a search and I had posted in something similar.

My grandmother always taught us to make a soothing mixture of honey and liquorice which is really fantastic.  I use it to help with my asthma as well.
