Pains in my chest - and electrical impulses unusual

I had a bad turn on Friday and experienced severe pains in my chest (no not heart attack - that I know of) and the pains kept going down my arms like electrical impulses and severe tingling.  I had a massive headache afterwards, and felt very weak with the pains in the chest taking a long time to go away.  I was put on oxygen and after 30 mins was breathing better.

Anyway after about two hours felt much better and got on with my life.  Then last night it started again, so am going for a check-up today, think of me I am long in the tooth now so do not have too many summers left.

If emergency did not do an EKG,  scream for one so loud that they give it to you so there will be quiet! Radiating chest pain is a BIG indicator for heart problems that can be treated.

I think that lack of oxygen to your brain could be what is wrong considering. I believe if you make a few changes in your diet, you will avoid the longterm damages.

Suzie, you and I are both a little long in the tooth, but we do have a few more good years left to us...I certainly hope. Chest pains that radiate down the arms is a sign of a heart problem, or blood pressure, but not always. Those should be the first two things your doctors look at. If those tests come back clear (and I really hope they do), you might talk to them about doing an MRI on your neck/spinal column. The symptoms you describe, including the terrible headache, also accompany an acute attack of osteoarthritis. That is when you have arthritis in your spine/neck, and the affected areas become swollen and inflamed. It can be extremely painful, even in the chest, and can result in shortness of breath. The pain can be severe enough to cause nausea and vomiting. I hope you don't have another episode, but if you do, pay attention to all of the areas where you feel pain. If any of the pain is in your neck and/or upper back as well, then you may have arthritis. The pain may not seem nearly as strong there, but that could be where it's starting. Once your muscles begin to tense up as you fight the pain, the pain spreads to other areas (shoulders, chest, head, arms). Unfortunately, strong pain killers is about the only thing that will relieve those episodes. I hope your doctor can help you. I'll keep you in my prayers.

Have just got in from the Doctor and feel a bit like a pin cushion.  He has taken many vials of blood to check for cardiac fluid problems, any viral issues, acidity issues.  Then they did an ECG and that showed that my heart is fairly strong.  They are also checking if nerves are pinched etc.  But mostly they are waiting for the blood works to come back.  He was pretty hectic.  Our medical is fairly good in our city so am not worried.

My husband came with me for the battery of tests and the Doctor laughed and said - Morale of the story - don't let her family fight with her!  Whilst he was joking with my husband you could see my husband was thinking about it.  The first attack happened during a disagreement with my youngest son -

Hi Ann, thanks for the energy.  At the moment things are looking fairly good.  The blood works all came back as "no problems - everything within spec." - which is fantastic!  So my G.P now thinks it is just anxiety which triggers chest pains due to high levels of acidity.  He is not sure, but he is monitoring for the next week with ECG's walking and still to double check.  I had 'words' with my husband yesterday and the pains came back - it is all so weird, I have always been able to handle any situation - as my family say 'you are the strong one'.

I think it is all fine now, just old age catching up! *smile*
