So, my mom walks into my room, and I had just gotten done with a spell and I was grounding myself, so I hadn't cleaned up yet.  She freaks!! She tells me to clean it up and stuff.  Then she starts yelling at me that I can't do it in the house and that I need to read the bible and stuff, and she gives it to me.  I am very offended that my parents think that i am devil worshipping when I told them over and over again that Wicca does not believe in a devil so therefore does not worship a devil.  she still thinks that I am evil and doing something bad.  She thinks I'm crazy for believeing in Magick! It really hurts to know that your parents don't accept you....what should I do... sign0085

You know, I think we've had some posts about this before... and I think the general consensus was to 'play nice while you are still under your parents roof'.  I know that's probably not what you want to hear, but it will ease the pressure on you while you are still at home.

I think most parents reaction to this is based solely on what they were taught and have been told by the church for years.  If they find that you are still the kind, sweet, little girl that they raised then things should get better for you.  You may still have to lay low while you live at home, though.  They may never accept Wicca, but they still love you.  That's why they're worried about you.  Hence the screaming and yelling...

I don't know your home life, so I can't give you any specific advice... so I hope that helped a little.  We do have quite a few people your age on this board though, so they might be able to chime in with some good "been there, done that" stories and advice, lol.

Feel free to PM me whenever you want to  Smiley

Brightest Blessings

A child of the flowers am I,With blossoms budding from my hair.
A friend of the Fairies am I,A crown of leaves and flowers I wear.
A daughter of the Earth am I,Walking Her ways with feet ever bare.
A sister of the waters am I,Flowing wild and free without a care.
At one with the blowing winds am I,Singing softly through the midnight air.
A keeper of the fire am I,Let me kindle your passions if you dare.

What SnowAngel said...

Being a Pagan does not mean being anti-Christian, it simply means you are seeking your own path. Everyday I have lunch with a member of the Mennonite church who is always an example of all that is good in the Christian path.

Throwing a fit with your parents will only make things worse. So maybe it's better to avoid the fight.

Go ahead and read that Bible. There are many valuable lessons in it, as with any other true sacred text, and if you have the King James version, you will also be exposed to Elizabethan English what is really good and it will expand your vocabulary and English style. If they've given you one of these watered-down modern English versions, hold out for a King James and its thunderous prose.

Just be a bit more discreet about your activities. Stay true to yourself until you can strike out on your own.

Thank you both.  I am not against Christianity at all.  I just wish that my parents could be like that with Wicca.  Not against it.  I know that they love me.  I was just so taken aback at what they had said and how they were treating me.  The awkwardness is still about, but I am hoping that that leaves soon. I want things to return to they way they were.  I am allowed to do Magick outside of the home, like in the yard, which I am okay with because the spell work might work better outdoors anyway.  So, I am not so angry anymore.  I just hope that the tension wears off in the house soon.

Sounds like you broke the house rules that are really pretty lenient Undecided

I think you might be wise to apologize for doing so, but hold out for that King James version. There are several versions for different uses, so you could score points by arranging a trip to select the one that you find most appropriate.

I tend to prefer the New Jerusalem translation, although I understand there's a more recent translation out there now.

I have several translations of the Bible -- both in hard copy and e-text.  At the very least, it's good to read it because it forms the basis for much of Western cultural thought.

As to the other -- I'm sorry, but those that own (or rent) the house get to make the rules.  It sounds to me like you've reached a good compromise.

Yes.  I am considering reading the bible at some point in my life.  I did apologize for my actions and for breaking the rules.  I have agreed to do it outside, and my and my mom are trying to get along even better.

I'm glad things are going better!   Sounds like you and your mom have a strong relationship, that's fantastic!  dance

You are about 70 miles north of me. I don't think you are going to need help but I am here.  Our Trad has policies advise and help for the under 18 set. We wont do anything illegal but there is still a lot we can do. Here is a link to our website.
