I have a lot of questions that i would like to ask...so if you don't mind answering them that would be GREATLY appreciated.

1.  Does casting a circle with your mind instead of actual objects work the same?

2. Does every spell that you cast need a circle casted?

3. Can you cast a spell at any time of the day or night?

4. What should I do when my mom is against Magick, and Wicca?

5. Do you have to be initiated to start doing Magick?

That's it for now...

thank you!

Blessed Be!

No, I honestly don't mind one bit answering some of your questions.

1. Yes, I do think that casting one with your mind works equally as well as casting with a wand or another object. I think most use a magical object because it helps the user visualize things a little better.

2. Hmmmm I would have to say that generally I would recommend casting a circle. It helps focus and direct the energy or energies used for the spell casting as well as to help ward off any unpleasant energy or outcomes. If you wish to cast without a circle, it is certainly possible and fairly common to do so.

3. In general, yes you can. Any spell can be cast at any time. However, once you get more experienced in spell craft and such, you might and/or will find that certain time of the day may be better than others.

4. I would tread lightly here. If she is against Magick and Wicca, then I would say to keep your practicing "on the down low" or "in the broom closet" as many a witch here will say. If shes against it (I'm assuming your a minor here) then I would try not to be obvious or flaunt your practice in any way. Hopefully some other members may shed a little more light here.

5. The answer is and always will be no. You do not have to be "initiated" to practice magic. You must simply be in connection with your god and/or goddess and willing to follow what they have to teach you. Nobody can tell you that you can't practice because you "aren't initiated". However, If you do wish to learn from a group that does require initiation, there is no harm in doing so.

Good evening all[smile].
I am not really a Wiccan dear lady, and my methods can be rather unorthodox at times, but if it pleases yea I shall answer your questions to the best of my abilities.

1.Tools like the Athame are only as magical as you want them to be, and they are great for helping you focus your energy when you're doing things like casting the invisible boundary of your circle[When I do this I like to imagine shooting a beam of light out of my Athame, like a blue laser.]and such, but ritual tools like this are just props. The power/magick is of the Gods, invested in you. You could do the very same action using naught but your pinky finger, or your mind if you wished. Intent, imagination, and reverence for the Divine is everything. I like tools, objects, costumes, and such because they but me in that "special mood"...but they are still, only props.

2.I don't think so. Religious spells, well, perhaps so, as the circle creates a special place to help link you to the Divine[Calling Corners, Invoking the Goddess, etc.etc.] or raise energy[Cone of Power?], but for anything else it's probably just a matter of your personal preference. I cast all kinds of spells alllllll the time without creating/using a circle. If I'm outside, and I'm standing upon the grass, and the Sun or Moon is shining upon my up-turned face, and the wind is in my hair, then by golly as far as I'm concerned I'm ALREADY physically connected to the God and Goddess sufficiently for any spells I might wish to cast.
Do you think that a Christian's prayers are only effective/heard by God if they are prayed within the confines of a Church?
Nonsense! And it can work the same way for you,  too.

3.What MoonTraveler said. Also, see above.

4.Ah, family dynamics, eh? Bummer that. You are very young, and have to follow the rules of your parents. Do you know why she is opposed to Wicca and Magick? Learn what her reasons are if you don't already know. And what do you mean by "opposed", anyway? Is she scared to death that her little girl is "dabbling in devil worship" Wink, OR...is she just restricting your freedom of burning dozens of candles in your bedroom[grins]? Beeeeee honest. I need to know more about what's going on between the two of you before I offer you better advice on this issue.

5. Pfffffffft! Heck no!
Recall what I said about a Christian's prayers near the end of my answer #2? To use Christians/Christianity as an example again[because to me, a prayer is just a magickal spell by another name...], that would be like saying that prayers are only heard by God....IF you're a Monk or a Priest.  Ah, horsefeathers!
If you believe that Deities love and care about you, then you may as well also believe that they will allow you to preform an act of magick whether you're in a coven all dolled up in silver jewelry, fancy robes, as a member of some huge exclusive coven, or as a barefoot, rag-wearing peasant living all alone in a hut in the wilderness. Go hunt for and read some of Scott Cunningham's books, like his "Guide for The Solitary Practitioner". great

I hope that some of this was of some help to you dear lady, and I look forward to hearing back from you in the future[smile].

1.  Casting a circle with your mind alone is certainly possible, and useful if you're trying to cast in "stealth mode," but it takes practice and concentration.  The purpose of the physical items and rituals is to a large extent to keep you focused on task.

2.  No.  If the Circle were necessary for all magic, we wouldn't be able to use thaumaturgy.  Prayers can be spoken at any time, not just in a formal Circle.  More passive forms of magic, like divination and meditation also don't usually use a Circle.

3.  Depends on the paradigm, and the spell.  In Ceremonial Magic, certain spells must be cast at specific hours of the day, when the planetary energies are ideal.  Many other paradigms aren't so restrictive, but even in CM, it's possible (if not always desirable) to cast some kind of spell at any given hour of the day.

4.  "In the broom closet" magic is certainly possible, but I don't recommend it for immediate family members.  It will only lead to conflict and a feeling of betrayal when  the deception is eventually exposed.  Remember that parents are responsible for their children's religious upbringing, but even if you can't come to some theological compromise, there are still options.  Thaumaturgy, the direct petitioning of gods, saints and angels, is endorsed by even the most strict Fundamentalists.

5.  Not at all.  Certain Wiccan traditions require initiation for religious instruction, but the practice of magic  itself is universal.  Actually, you'd be hard pressed to find someone who has never used magic in some form.  Never blown out candles on a birthday cake, never wished on a star, never plucked the petals off a daisy...

1.  Does casting a circle with your mind instead of actual objects work the same?
Not always, the question is can you wield power with just your mind or are you fantasizing instead.

2. Does every spell that you cast need a circle casted?
Absolutely No,  but Top end spell-work usually does.

3. Can you cast a spell at any time of the day or night?
Yes. I am just far more comfortable at night.

4. What should I do when my mom is against Magick, and Wicca?
Hang tight and play nice. You will have to live with the results one way or another.

5. Do you have to be initiated to start doing Magick?
NO  Having been initiated I can say it was / is very important to me, but I cant explain how. This is not because of any oaths of secrecy, but because I simply do not have the words to describe it.  You would think that forty two years would give me better insight but it doesn't.

My answers here will mostly be short. As I'm not a parent I'm going to refrain from answering that particular question.

1.  Does casting a circle with your mind instead of actual objects work the same?

The only way to cast a circle is to do it with your mind. The tools you use are just that...tools. They help give you a psychological edge to make the process go more easily. In the end, though, you're doing it with your mind.

2. Does every spell that you cast need a circle casted?

No. Others may say otherwise, but this is my answer.

3. Can you cast a spell at any time of the day or night?

Yes.

5. Do you have to be initiated to start doing Magick?

No.
