A friend of mine dies suddenly several weeks ago. I would like to contact his spirit to make sure he is OK and to see if he has some messages for me or other people. How soon after his death can I go to a medium. I do not want to bother him too early...

It really depends on the person. If he was open to metaphysical things and spiritual then he might be ready as early as a couple weeks after. If he was more close minded or uncomforitible with things of the spirit, then if might take up to a couple years. Most of the books I've read say around three months is safe. Just be careful about the medium that they aren't scam artists.

My father died and I spoke with him in less than a month.
It is better for you to talk with your friend yourself.
Still you should wait till the grief has calmed down.
Losing someone we care about is never easy.

There's this old tale which says you can really communicate with a spirit for 40 days after their death. But as said above, it depends on the person.

I dreamed of my late father and my late aunt several times, but they did not talk to me while I was trying to communicate with them. I feel like I am lost. My aunt frequently visit to me in my dreams, which seems like she is protecting me.

Me mum passed on around February back in '06. I used the following Samhain in an albeit shaky attempt to commune with her during ritual. There were no words, didn't really want or need any, just good, positive, motherly loving warmth and the clear vision of her face. I'm sure it isn't really a matter of time but intent and personal involvement in your attempt. Of course I have only positive experiences to share, there may be others who have further advice to impart. Blessed Be in your endeavours!

Well, I wish I knew the answer for this one, but I guess it would depend on the departed. We're they ready to leave? Did they pass suddenly, and got all weirdy in the head and think they are still alive? We're they depressed? how old were they? Did they concider their life fulfilling? Did they not learn a valuable lesson and want to correct it?

See, too many variables. (IMHO)
I know I felt my brother the day of the funeral...there was no medium, just signs.(and I've heard similar stories from other family members as well). It hasn't even been 3 weeks yet since his passing.
But, to be honest, I'm ok with not talking to him. Our situation was unique. But I think you should do what feels right, in knowing the dearly departed..do you know if they even want to be contacted?

Blessed Be
