Nitty Gritty

Down to the nitty gritty. I love all the help I get on this forum. You people help so much. So, anyway, I have decided, through advice received here and my own reflections and ideas, that my Wiccan work is presently about the God. I feel no pull toward a Goddess at the moment. Now, I always refer back to a a very* important, realistic, impressionable dream wherein I was visited by a man who was of the Gandalf sort of archetype who was talking to me but I couldn't hear his voice. When he realized this, he chuckled and disappeared. I was very frightened. I've thought it could be Odin, but I've recently realized that I think I would have noticed a missing eye. I've always been into Norse myth, but at the time, 18 yrs ago, I was also into Druidism and Arthurian Legend. So it could have been Merlin. I also, about 8 yrs ago after recovering from a nasty almost fatal addiction, on one of the first days of feeling better and back to normal, I swear I saw the Green Man's face smiling at me from a tree outside my window. It last a full minute or 2. That's a long time. The only other experience I have had, about 8 months ago, it was raining and I challenged Thor, (I have always LOVED storms) to quit messing around and make the rain into a full blown pour-down and immediately it happened. No fluffy bunny bullshite. It HAPPENED.
Sorry this was so long. So after all of that, what advice would one give?
Thanks,
RSG

I'm not sure for what advice you're looking.
Personally (and this is only opinion based upon my experiences) I find that Wicca without a God or a Goddess is imbalanced. A person without a touch of the masculine and feminine both is imbalanced. Yin and yang and all that. A part of Wicca is about accepting that duality and recognizing it in ourselves to help create a fuller, more balanced person.
Now, there is such a thing as Goddess-centric Wicca (Dianic) and that's all well and good. The Dianic witches with which I have had contact -granted, only a few- seem drawn toward such a faith in response to a need to feel free and be released from the shackles of the patriarchal, male-centered religions in which they were raised. I'm not invalidating this in any way, or saying that this could not be the right path for anyone. However, and only personally, I feel that this, too, is imbalanced. There is no female without male and vice versa.
That's my two cents.

Wicca is a God and Goddess religion. That you Identify with the masculine more than the feminine is fine. Honor the Goddess as well, you do not need to emasculate yourself to do so.

I apologize, I just wanted this to be about the God. I've a Goddess in mind. The Morrigu is the one screaming out to me and I'm pretty dead set on her. I just wanted answers on the God questions.

Well, you have basically stated that The Green Man and Thor have made a direct contact with you. .. And through a dream, you had an encounter, but you weren't sure who it was.
You also stated in those 2 direct encounters.. That your encounter with The Green Man was just watching you, you didn't feel afraid. (my impression) And with Thor, you were challenging him, after a nasty near death experience.(as if you were angry, my impression)
So, I still don't understand what the nitty gritty is, unless, in reading between the lines, your asking which one do you think is a better fit for you...if this is the case, I can't answer.
However, if these 2 beings contacted me this way, I think I know who I'd seek.
Good luck! And happy to see that the Goddess matter is already resolved for you.
Blessed Be

Normally, I would say I can't choose for you. But now your asking me, who I would personally pick. (me, or the next poster)
First off, from why your asking, I'm assuming that mu earlier assumptions, (which you have clarified) my "reading between the lines" was correct.
I don't know your life, your choices, your history, what's good for you. But in my experiences, and taking the issues you have brought up, and "adding" them to mine, I would choose the God who I felt calm with. With whom I had no fear of... In the instance you gave, The Green Man.
This is my personal preference. And I will give you a little history for my own answer: I have been raped, 6 times. I have been gang raped. My ex husband beat me. My father abandoned me. My step father bullied me. I can be very skittish around a man/God/Goddess I fear. So you see, I can't answer this as a unbiased view.
I know that the people I encountered are not the normal, however, I can just ignore my history..and I'm going to therapy for my issues.
Everyone should have the right to choose their Dieties.
I hope you understand why I shy away from saying.."pick this one"
My suggestion, look inside yourself. Who do you feel comfortable with? Do you like the strong, challenging, authoritative type, or
There are so many options, Pantheons, Dieties.... The personalities are abundant. Choose whom you think would be proper for you.
Good luck
Blessed Be

Oh I totally understand. I just wanted your opinion. I wasn't going to "pick" my God based on your "pick." lol But your opinion would be an interesting piece to put into this puzzle, maybe?

Even with two eyes, Odin isn't completely ruled out. He could simply be choosing to manifest in His earlier aspect as the god of travel, long before the Well of Mimir, the sacrifice on Yggdrasil or rulership of Asgard.

This is slightly off topic, but I'm curious - what books have you read, wildhunt?

What books? Oh Gods....All of them...lol
No, I don't know. The intro book on Wicca and Living Wicca by Cunningham, Complete Witchcraft by Buckland, numerous Germanic Paganism related sources, Wicca for beginners by Sabine (GREAT BOOK!), too many to name really.
