Spells while sick

I'm considering preforming a spell tonight but I've recently gotten sick. I just wanted to know what everyone's opinions are of preforming spells while sick, can being totally out of it because you have the cold mess up your own spell to heal yourself?

 Well, there is a belief that ones personal energy/Aura is not in proper alignment when they are ill and that it takes extra focus and effort to properly send out the energy for the spell. Of course its probably all a matter of personal skill, belief and experience in the matter, as with many things wiccan lol! Best of luck and Brightest Blessings to your 'work this eve!

I personally avoid doing rituals or spells of any kind while sick.Magic workings require energy; most people are very fatigued when ill. Doing a mental or verbal prayer for a speedy recovery is what I would suggest, besides the obvious tips of getting rest and staying hydrated. Take some medication if you want, drink a hot cup of tea and relax.

That pretty much said what I was going to. I've tried to do a healing spell on myself when ill, and it didn't really work. Not only the results, but the spell itself. I was fatigued, and when I rallied all my strength and energy to do the spell it started out ok but died a sudden death before I had finished. I just suddenly became exhausted and wasn't able to do anything more of any value. I don't remember whether I tried to carry on anyway or just gave up. I have a feeling I continued on for a few seconds before realizing the futility of it. LOL Just take care of yourself and let the bug run it's course. See a doctor if need be.

Like it was mentioned doing spell work requires energy energy which has been zapped by your illness. I think I've done spell work once while I was sick bad idea XP I had a prtty bad cold and was dopped up on dayquil I ended up flopping down and falling asleep XD I awoke to spilled water and scattered items.

 Can't quite imagine if the Gods and Ancients would have been offended or just laughed at this poor little pagan passing out after summoning them, lol!

I hate doing workings when under the weather, but like anything else it depends on the occasion. If you're too ill to say go into your workplace, then you'd probably be too ill for a major working. If not, then you still have something to muster. We still attend coven circles if just under the weather. The only difference is those ill just kiss on the cheek, and touch the chalice to their forehead instead of drinking, but can raise and send energy no problem. Just like your craft of profession, you should be able to still craft under various influences.

If it's a working that you want every influence behind you on, then it might be best to postpone. I kind of put things off when I'm sick, and the only thing I really do do is healing spells. Such a drag&annoying when you can't even smell the feckin incense!Since being ill is a time when you and your immune system are run down, so I take it as a cue to relax. Go inside yourself, and re-cooperate with spells that help with those.

Normal type healings while you are sick do not work well.  Your energy is not clear or clean and you tend to pass that on. While sick working with internal Ki, Chi, manna.... can help by increasing the amount available to heal yourself and improving its flow especially to where in your body you need it.  For more chronic problems The Inner Smile helps a lot.

There are several ways to help yourself without risking causing more trouble than when you started.
Mapping your energies: Move your hand about ½ inches above your arm in one direction it will move easily. In the other direction, there will be resistance, like petting a cat backwards. Map out how energy moves in your body Feet, legs, torso, hands and arms.
Relax and imagine the flow of energy in your body. With your will increase that flow, make it larger and faster. If you need to, push energy with your hands or pull it where it is sluggish.

The Inner smile.
Relax and imagine your breath coming into you. Breathe out and imagine that the poisons leave your body. Breathe in and visualize health coming into you.
Visualize your lungs.            Smile at them.
Visualize Your Heart.           Smile at it.
Visualize Your Stomach.      Smile at it.
Visualize Your Intestines.     Smile at them.
Visualize your liver               Smile at it.
Visualize Your Kidneys.       Smile at them.
Visualize Your Bowels.        Smile at them.
Cycle through the parts of your body several times, smiling with your face and not just your imagination.
