I know that you can be one and not the other, Wiccan and not a Witch and a Witch and not a Wiccan; but, if one is simply a Witch, can one still work with a God and Goddess, or is that purely a Wiccan practice? Can it be considered a Pagan practice and adopted by a Witch who is not a Wiccan?

It can be, IMHO, I don't see why not. Being Wiccan, there are certain initiations(in some beleif systems, not in others)...
I see no reason why you can have a God and Goddess and be a witch, and not be Wiccan. Although they are similar in nature.

May I ask why your curious about this?

I am a Witch, but not Wiccan.  I work with both Goddesses and Gods.  It suits me just fine  Wink

Yeah. I don't really subscribe to all the Wiccan beliefs and don't consider myself Wiccan, and in fact, I am a Christo-Pagan of sorts and I would like to practice Witchcraft. The idea of incorporating a god and goddess is enticing and I'm trying to figure out how I can make it work.

This may prove a difficult road, but I wish you well on your path.
May I make a suggestion? ........ Don't jump into anything without giving in a good long thought and study.

I'm not going to lie or pretend otherwise. I do have some personal hang-ups where Christo-Paganism is concerned. But if others wish to practice it it's not for me to interfere in any way. So I thought I'd try to be helpful and suggest something for your consideration. From what I've read (mostly online) a lot of Christo-Pagans consider Mother Mary as their goddess. If you want to go all the way with a Christian pantheon, that would be one option to consider. That's not to say that's the only way to be a Christo-Pagan. Just something to think about if it resonates with you.

You can be a Witch, but not Wiccan; but since Witch is usually an umbrella term it doesn't really work the other way around.  If you're Wiccan, then you're a Witch.  Now, some Wiccans might not like that term, but Wicca generally falls under the umbrella of Witchcraft.
Does that make sense?  Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but that's always been the way I understood it.

And, yes, of course you can work with a God and Goddess!

Well, close but not quite. It's under the umbrella of Pagan religions, but not all Wiccans practice witchcraft. To the best of my knowledge that is rare but still the case.

Yea, witchcraft in itself is a secular art. It is done without deities or religion, however it can also be incorporated into religion. Religious, or pagan witchcraft is the sort that Wicca falls under. There are many views in regards to what makes Wicca "Wiccan," compared to similar forms of pagan witchcraft, or neo-paganism, but basically there are many different pagan traditions and types of witches.

Not every witch is a Wiccan, but upon initiation into Traditional Wicca one becomes a Priest/ess AND Witch, even though there are Wiccans more into the religious side than magickal. Wicca just happens to be a certain type of, and tradition of witchcraft.

Back in the 1970's Witchcraft and Wicca were the same thing totally. Time went on and there were those who did not want the religious part but liked the Witchcraft style magic.  Also there were those who loved the religion but didn't care for the Magic.   SO Wicca is the religion and Witchcraft is the magical practice.

I think that most Wiccans have continued the magical practice of Witchcraft and If it was not for the dogmatic traditions there would be more Witchcraft practitioners who would be comfortable with the name Wicca.

The Lord and Lady are more accepting than some of their followers.
