shrinkingmikey you have been asking this same question since  October 08, of 2010. It must be weighing very heavily on your mind. I agree with Ken Ra as most members told you in your other threads. NO

This is however over a period of time a form of SPAM. DO NOT Start another thread with this same title or subject matter.

Good evening[smile].
Alas, no. I would LOVE to know why you would wish to do this to yourself, ShrinkingMikey. Please share your thoughts with us. Smiley
Speaking personally, I have often been on my knees in some tall weeds in a wild wood with a magnifying glass in my hands, studying tiny insects and delicate wildflowers and herbs sprinkled with dew, and fantasize about being that tiny so that I could better explore and enjoy the micro-world......why, just hiking through twenty yards of an overgrown country meadow in the Summertime would be the most awesome adventure ever! The problem though, is that, when you're that small, everything in the whole world has you on the menu. Spiders, ants, wasps, frogs, rats, birds, lizards, Praying Mantises,...anything that would happily eat a Cricket would have an easier time at eating you. And that's not even including whatever funky weird new allergies, poisons, or annoying hairs/spines/serrated edges you would have to contend with from the plant life.....or the new kinds of parasites you might pick up[and you thought that Ticks were bad]. It is safer to just enjoy the fantasy, because the reality would probably destroy you before you covered a span of twelve feet.

When I saw the thread, I thought it was about psychiatrist help.

Oh well... Good luck with shrinking. .. I'm curious now, why would you want this?

I would definitely advise against this experiment; the laws of physics are, much as we might wish them otherwise, unbreakable. We're talking Conservation of Mass/Energy here.

So, Mikey; how much do you weigh? Let's say, just for the sake of the discussion, 70 kilograms (about 150lbs)? So if you ever did find a spell to shrink you down to one inch, or say 25mm tall, you would then weigh, what? Just a few grams, obviously.

And let's accept, just for the sake of the thought-experiment, that in the Earth's gravitational field Weight and Mass are identical?

So to shrink you down from 70kg to a few grams (or, in practical terms, virtually zero) means that, by the Law of Conservation of Mass/Energy, virtually all of that 70kg worth of mass would be instantaneously converted into energy, following the well known formula courtesy of good old Prof. A. Einstein:

                                 E = Mc2

Where E = Energy, M = Mass, and c is the velocity of light.

Because c is quite a large number, as I'm sure you know, then E would also turn out to be quite large. In fact, when we're talking about quantities of energy that big, we don't bother with squitty little Metric units like Ergs; we start talking megatons - and one megaton is the energy equivalent of a million tons of TNT. As I'm sure you also know.

Just for comparison purposes, your average megaton thermonuclear bomb, capable of flattening a good-sized city, converts, at most, a few grams of Mass into Energy. So if we're proposing to convert 70kg of mass into energy; well, the end result would probably be a smoking crater the size of Texas.

And you, Mikey, being at Groud Zero, would be a few puffs of intensely radioactive gas. It's HOT inside a nuclear fireball; you'd vaporise instantly.

And it wouldn't help you, either, to go into space; in Earth orbit you'd be weightless, but your Mass - the important quantity - would still be 70kg. So, once again - Boom. Game over. Altogether, not a good idea.

Plus, of course, all the other problems that have already been mentioned; like being thought of as a tasty snack by your neighbour's cat. Or even your own cat.

I hope this information is helpful,

Theflyingsorcerer.

Good evening ladies and gentlemen[smile].
ShrinkingMikey, if you are reading, I noticed that you were here yesterday. Why won't you indulge us with an explanation?

Although you cannot shrink thus in reality, have you ever tried indulging in such an exercise within the dream world?
If you master the art of Lucid Dreaming or Cognitive Dreaming, them you will be able to indulge in this fantasy as best as anyone could ever hope to. great

Um...I understand people here do try to be helpful, and that's what I love about this site...

But maybe shrinkingmikey is either delusional under the impression that magick is similiar to what we see on TV and in the movies, or he's a troll and just seeing how many people he can get to give an attempt at an intellectual response. He's probably just laughing at everyone's intelligence, believing that we actually think his question is legit.

Just my two cents.

I really wasn't going to say it since I already made that comment about not teasing or feeding the trolls, but I will add my voice to yours as this is pretty much what I was thinking too.

maybe you should try "Reducio!"  I was hoping "Accio Wallet" would help the other day.   57  Too bad we're in the real world.
