That's a great idea, I have a .16 gauge that needs to be cleaned, and a 9mm that I can borrow..

That's a great idea, Sprite! (I only shoot at targets or food)... There's a gun range right down the road... Hmmmm, why didn't I think of this?

great idea Sprite!

Blessed Be

Kaleesie, I am bipolar: I can understand the anger.  Fortunately, we were able to find the right cocktail early on.

I am also a musician and I've found that listening to certain kinds of music helps me deal with anger and depression.

If I need to work through anger, I use heavy metal music or punk.  If I need to let go, I listen to "flying" songs or "sail" songs ("Sail Away", other such).  I also listen to bluegrass or bluegrass gospel.  I do the same when I am depressed, because I tend to brood.

If I need to change state quickly -- especially going from depression to functional, I listen to swing, bluegrass, or even rockabilly.  The same music can help with my anger.

These are my techniques because I relate to music.  I used to shoot as well, but I haven't been able to find a good range lately, or someone to go with me.  I find target shooting very meditative.

My apologies, both you two. Ferox, I got a toned down version from you, from what Sprite had to mention....
So both of you get credit.i want great impact from my " release" .
I think a shooting range is exactly what I need.
I asked my roommate  if I could borrow his sidearm while he was on vacation ( he's a peace officer) so I will be under great supervision. ( yes, I know how to use a police issued, but I don't want any room for error.) And maybe he can give me tips. ( I'm may be rusty, it's been a few years since I used a 9.)

( look at me, I'm actually getting gitty) ( oh Giddess, I sound like a bumpkin)

Oh well, I'm ready to practice!
I will be be thanking the Goddess for presidents day.. And shoot me some.. Deep breath.. Anger releasing ammo.

Blessed Be to all of you, and all the suggestions.

Fortunately for me, music gets me into my zone.  In fact, it has gotten me from rage to ready for a ritual.  (Okay, that was bluegrass music -- there's something about that music that is joyful)

Thunder, no offence taken! I did say from the outset that I do NOT suffer from this condition (thank goodness), but I did know a couple of others that do.  I phoned my Doctor friend after reading your reply, and he said:

Whilst he agrees completely with the fact that there are so many varying degrees of this condition (it is not a disease it is a condition he says) the majority of Bipolar are not so severely effected that most cocktails do not have the desired effect.  He says you are quoting an almost "worst case scenario", it is SELDOM that severe UNLESS untreated, or the person is on the incorrect cocktail and it needs to be either replaced or refined to remove most of the severe side effects and or symptoms.

He went on to say that they have symposiums every six months on this as more and more people are being diagnosed with varying cases of this and related conditions, and by far the majority of patients are very successful in their treatment, once the correct cocktail and treatment has been established.  Yes he agrees that each case needs to be evaluated carefully, as some patients develop a tolerance to the treatment after a period of time, and it needs to be either changed, or tweaked every so often.

He cannot for obvious reasons speak firstly for the more severe conditions and "worst case scenarios" or for patients that he personally has not evaluated, but only what the Health Industry as a whole has reported back to attending physicians for each symposium.  Therefore to call him a liar was a wee bit harsh as he was calling it from the "majority" cases they deal with on a day-to-day basis.

He concluded that there are recommended therapies "not drugs" for folk who suffer from these maladies, for them to de-stress or take part in with or without like minded people, each country has their own programmes that they offer to their patients.  He agrees that music is one of the highest success rates of all the therapies.  He wishes you well and declines from further discussion, as that would be between your medical advisor's and yourselves, and would not be ethical for him to comment further.

Well, I was speaking from my personal experience. I've had ups and downs with the success of my treatment over the years, but in almost 20 years there has not been a single cocktail that has completely removed symptoms for me. That being said, I probably am a worst case scenario simply due to the severity of my disorder. As with Kaleesie , I'm also permanently disabled because of it.

Therefore to call him a liar was a wee bit harsh as he was calling it from the "majority" cases they deal with on a day-to-day basis.

You're absolutely right, and I apologize. What I took umbrage with was the blanket statement which I know from personal experience is not always the case.

Don't beat yourself up over this.  I cannot possibly imagine what it must be like to have to rely on medication to keep yourself stable, nor can I begin to imagine how hectic it must be to be permanently disabled because of it.  It must be a rough road to walk, but I am sure that you must have some peaceful pieces in the road, and have they not got you a support group to help you with the lows?  I just don't know anyone close to us that is Bipolar, or manic depressive or anything of that nature so this is totally foreign to me, but I cannot help feel that most of the Doctors out there must be able to assist you, if this has been around for so long?  The medical field being what it is must have put this on the fast burner to help you.  If not, why not?

You would figure if they can put a man in space, they could figure out the human mind, ... 17
But no, not quite yet Suzie.
Suzie, I believe that from your own experiences, you gave me the information you knew about, and did your best to help. ( don't get me wrong, I'm grateful you tried)
However, I am an extremely severe case. ( I've attempted suicide more than once) .. Of course this was years ago, when they didn't know what was wrong with me and, I didn't either and it drove me insane to live in my own skin.

20 years later, I'm still scrambling to find the " just right dosage"  which is extremely frustrating, because it means, I'm not getting the right meds, which, of course means im am right back where I started 20 years ago.

No, I don't plan to hurt myself. NOW I have 2 beautiful children to live for and try to be a good role model too. But I literally can't help it when I get all "jumblely"..
I wish I could say I have a good support system.
But I don't.
The warning I got on the forum gave me a big slap in the face as to how out of control I was that day. ( and again, apologies for this) my ex husband is trying to sue me... And I called a lawyer, to find out he can't. And I was  happy/mad..( happy cause my meager check wouldn't be depleted) (mad because he was to chicken to call)   He texted me.

At any rate, my roomie has gone out of town, and I don't know where his firing range is ( plus no car, I was going to have him take me) so shooting range is out. Bleh.

Feel free to swing ideas my way.

Blessed Be

Oddly enough, hanging around this forum has helped me control my anger -- especially in writing and in e-mail.  Knowing that I must stay within the standards of civilized conversation forces me to consider what I'm saying and how I say it.  You'd never believe the number of times I've typed something and then erased the whole thing because it seems too angry.

Yes, yes, I have too. But if I hadn't, I'd have been banned by now.

Writing does help, but I'm constantly getting up to do an errand or clean or whatever, so my mind (already 10 places at once) as to focus and get my point across in my posts.
Thank you all for the encouragement
