Who's afraid of the big... black... deer?

Last night, while I was lying in bed, falling asleep, something hit me kinda like a vision or a dream. I can't really tell. I saw a big black deer standing on a field near where I live. The deer itself was bigger than the deers I've seen in person and it's fur was clearly black. It's antlers were big and had normal shape, but reflected the moonlight like a gem would with sunlight, just a lot weaker. His eyes appeared like he had acute conjunctivitis and his iris was more yellow than brown. I felt scared by it and I had the feeling it was looking for me or waiting for me.
I really can't make anything of it. I would be very grateful if anyone with more knowledge could try to make some sense out of this, since it's kind of unsettling to me.

The reason as to why you fear it is unknown...but with some research, I found this.
The meaning of a deer is gentleness, kindness, and unconditional love. Why you would fear it, I don't know. But addressing the black color might have changed it.
Researching the color black, I learned that the Aztecs used obsidian as their blade, and it represented religion. The Aztec priests wore nothing but black. That could have been the 'gemstone like qualities' of the antlers. In Chinese culture, black represented the element water, the direction of north, and the season that is winter. And as we all know, black is used in mourning.
The yellow eyes, I can only think that a disease would be causing it. It could be many things. For example, a symptom of Lyme disease is yellowing eyes in the primary (the deer) host and the human. It's spread through a Deer Tick.
What I get from this: I'm not sure. I agree with you, it may have been a vision. But, the meaning of the deer is unclear to me. Hope this helped!
Here's the websites used:
Color Meaning:
http://www.sensationalcolor.com/color-messages-meanings/color-meaning-symbolism-psychology/all-about-the-color-black.html
Animal Meaning:
http://www.shamanicjourney.com/article/6025/deer-power-animal-symbol-of-gentleness-unconditional-love-and-kindness
And then I google searched 'big black deer with yellow eyes' and it pulled up diseases that can cause a deer to have yellow eyes.

I have to respectfully disagree with your interpretations. Barring a state of hypnagogic sleep and lending some sort of signifigance to this vision I have to say I don't believe it was a deer at all. I have to admit I don't have any explanation for what it actually was, but I just feel that it was something all together different simply taking on the form described. If that's the case, conventional wisdom (such as what you found in your research) goes out the window. That's just my take on it. I really wish I could be more helpful.

darkestday95, thank you for helping me try getting to the bottom of this. I'm trying to apply some of that information to myself to make some possible connections....
Thunderwolf, I have not considered that at all... But what else it could be is even more difficult to get to the bottom of. Especially regarding my perception of it looking or waiting for me...
While I walked my dogs today I realized that the exact spot is only an acre away from a small group of trees (which locals refer to as "small forest", sitting in the middle of 4 acres), which is where I usually cast a circle and perform rituals amidst.
So I will go there tonight. See if I feel anything unusual. If I don't I will go to the trees and see if there's anything out of the ordinary to be felt there.

I honestly didn't think of that, Thunderwolf. The possibilities of deer like that are slim...-rubs back of head-
I was just trying to think of something rational, which turned irrational. Something to ponder, it seems. Clavar, that's probably best. At least to figure out what it is. Just go with rotection, because what you described doesn't sound good. At all. But that's what I think...who knows, it may be good. Because for all evil, there's a spot of good, right?

I had a thought last night while reading the original post that it might be the Horned God or some form of a deity. I've got nothing to back it up, just a gut reaction when I read it.

Due to complications within my family I have decided to postpone my search to tomorrow night...
Well, Raydo, a similar thought came to me today, too, after I thoroughly read through one of the links darkestday95 posted.
It said "The set of antlers grown by the male deer are antennae that connect it to higher energies."
I said that the antlers reflected the moonlight, which made me think of our Goddess... But I dropped the thought since antlers themselves are - as you mentioned - a trait of the Horned God...
well...

That could definitely be interpreted as a connection to both the god and goddess then, huh?

If you felt very uplifting from the dream, it could be your animal spirit guide

I feel I have nothing constructive to add, but when we go hunting, we always point out "Woww look at *that* black deer!" (usually an angus bull) in a comical sort of way. Thats the very first thing that popped into my mind when I read your title.
Hunting "black deer" around here is highly illegal
Good luck with your interpretive search.

Sadly, I have not found or felt anything decisive. After days of thinking I kind of narrowed it down to:
- Spiritual Guide
- Messenger of the Goddess and the Horned God
- completely different entity
-
something
entirely new
I guess I'll have to be patient in order to find out... someday...
