For me finishing my year and a day of studying (May 11th) I plan something big. For me at least. The reason I'm posting this is because I'm asking the help of all people on the Forum.

On that day, I plan to tell my step father that I'm Pagan.

This wouldn't be so bad if he wasn't hardcore Christian. So I plan to show him this thread, proving the Hollywood stereotype wrong. Prove the stereotype of our religion wrong.

So what I request is a list of the reasons this isn't a religion to fear. I know we can come up with many, so please help. I chose today to post this because it gives about a month or two of posts, and in that time a lot of to rack up a ton. Thanks, truly.

At the core of Wicca is the God and Goddess, the divine male and female.  We are ALL  humanity their children whether or not anyone knows the family name. To harm or treat someone as not family is something She and He would not approve of. We are a part of the Lord and Lady so violating our own integrity, would harm the Gods themselves.

Against what many believe, we most certainly do not "lay with the devil" or cooperate with any evil entities at all.
What we want is simply balance, knowledge and peace.
We also don't force our religion on anyone, so why feel threatened?

PS: My year and a day-communion is on May 13th Wink
I started studying it over the internet May 12th and ordered my first book (Ultimate Book of Shadows for the Solitary Witch by Silver Ravenwolf) just three days after.    Cheesy

Another way of putting that is to say that we worship the devil just as much as atheists do. They don't believe in anything and don't worship anything. We don't believe in or worship the devil either.

In the Wiccan Rede it says "An it harm none do what ye will". Meaning if you follow the Wiccan Rede then you won't do anything to hurt anyone else. Smiley

As Wiccans, we try to take care of this planet and keep it healthy for  our descendants. We are not here to convert, either.
Bright Blessings!

Good evening[smile].
Well, no war that I know of has ever been fought in the name of Neo-Paganism or Wicca, so we don't have the bloody skeletons of things like The Crusades, The Hundred Years War, or things like The Spanish Inquisition in our metaphorical closets. great
Does your father read? If so then have him brows through our SEARCH and look up within past threads what we all had to say on subjects like Satanism, mind control, or anything else that he may disapprove of so he can see that those things are frowned upon by us as well[a common bond is always a good start], and have him look through our threads on recommended books for reading. Invite him to join the forum so he can talk to us directly about whatever is on his mind[smile].

Since he's going to be showing this to his step father, I'll directly speak to him. Smiley

Sir, despite some things you may hear, pagans, wiccans, and occultists in general are not bad people. We only wish for the As best, out of ourselves and for others. We enjoy taking control of our own lives. Our ways may be different than your own, but this does not mean we worship the devil (As previously stated that we don't.) We are nature loving people that take pride in who we are. We don't want to convert others and we are not interested in being converted, and in all actuality, we all just want to be left alone. I bet many others of us would say the same as this, but not all mind you, we would just love to be treated equally as other faiths and just left to read our books in peace. Smiley

As for any fear that we might go to 'Hell', don't worry about us or your step-son. This is our choice. I know you may not be happy with his choice but all he wants to do is let you know that this is who he is and what he wants. From what he tells me of you, you hate people lying. This is his way of telling you the truth, don't get angry at him for that.

Also, most of these people here are good people and most of them kind. We're no different than anyone else on this planet. We are all creations of whatever divine or higher power anyone believes in.
