I've had a few paranormal encounters in recent years, though nothing huge or dangerous. The earliest was only a few days after my first dog passed about three years ago. We had adopted him when both he and I were only one year old. We stuck together for eleven more years; he was my best friend for most of my childhood. He passed naturally, and I was rather depressed for the next few days. However, my mood lightened after he appeared to me in a dream. I remember the dream, though a few details are blurry. I was standing in a room, but it wasn't one that I recognized. Almost everything in the room was white. When I looked around I saw my dog coming toward me, so I knelt down and hugged him when he reached me. He licked my face and after a few minutes he turned into a look-alike stuffed plushie toy. I hugged that, and then he became his real self again. When he became his real self again he left, and I woke up.

My second story happened on the 12 of this month (November). I was at a friends apartment, with her mom and one other friend. She had gotten a Nintendo 3DS for her birthday and we were taking pictures with it. When I started taking pictures, a face started appearing. It was only ever the face, a blond haired teenage boy. It was upside down at first, and it freaked my friend and her mom out quite a bit. I found it intrigueing, though, and asked if he could please show up right-side up. The next picture I took, there he was, smiling and right-side up. We stopped taking pictures when the expression started to change from happy to..annoyed? I think he was getting tired of 'playing' with us. A few days later I found out that a teenage boy had committed suicide in that apartment years ago, but my friend and her mother told me that they'd had no experiences in their two years of living there until I started taking pictures that day.

My last story is about the spirit in my house, particularly my room. I get the impression that it's a she, but I'm not sure. She's been around since probably before we moved in almost five years ago. She's not really bad or good, just sort of there, and not especially active. Things disappear in our house on occasion, especially nail clippers and socks. Whenever I'm watching a movie in my room, it tends to pause randomly. I've also just recently gotten a puppy, and at night she sleeps in a kennel in my room. About a week after we got the puppy I started waking up to her running about my room in the mornings. This happened for a few days during which I made certain, and even brought my mom back to make sure, that I closed her kennel completely. Finally I said one evening, 'I don't care if you want to play with my puppy, but please put her back in her kennel when you've finished.' Since then, I've had no problems.

I've had several experiences throughout my life. Most recently, communications from my wife after she passed. The day before her funeral, she left me a phone message, but not in her natural voice. All of her messages had to be amplified and slowed down for me to understand them. She had a lot to say in that one, but even more interesting was the one the next day on our best friend's phone. I had gotten to the funeral home early, and had given the funeral director several things I wanted in her casket with her. Among them was a beer, she loved her beer...After the funeral, our friend had agreed to drive me in the procession to the cemetery, because I was just not in any shape. When I got into her truck, she played a voice message that had just appeared on her cell, even though it never rang. We couldn't make out any of the words, but we both distinctly heard the sound of a beer opening and being poured into a glass. About a month later, the day after my birthday, I got home from work, and there was another voice message on my phone. When I put it on my computer, I could hear her say "Honey, Happy Birthday". Also, there were voices in the background singing "Happy Birthday To You". I turned on my voice recorder (app for my cell) and asked her who was singing in the background. She said herself, then named other relatives that had passed on before her. I only got one more voice message on my phone after that, but I was regularly asking her questions and getting answers. I always felt her presence around me. That wasn't creepy, though, it was comforting. Now I don't feel her with me, but I think she might be, and I hope so, because I really miss her. Thank you for reading my babbling...

I have many stories but this one is my best, the one that makes me happy and lets me know that we are never gone.

My father died in 1991 when i was five. this story happened many years ago when i was a teen.
I had fought with her earlier that night before she went out to the bar. I was in my room crying on my bed because i was scared and alone in the house and was worried about my mom because it was already in the early hours of the morning and she and my brother were not home. My eldest brother who rented our house next door was a trucker and out of town at the time. I had already called the hospitals to see if she was there and the police department to see if she was arrested ( don't get the wrong idea she is a good mother she was just lost for a while) she wasn't at either. so i continued to panic and went to my room plopped on my bed and continued to cry. After a while (still crying) i felt a movement on the bed like someone sitting down. I thought my mom had finally gotten home and turned to look but there was no one...I looked at the bed and there was a indentation. like someone sitting there next to me. i got scared and hide my face in the pillow trying to muffle my cries of fear. Then the best part. I felt this warm large hand on my right shoulder. it startled me so bad i gasped and went to search the house to see if anyone was home. i checked each room, no one was home. i was completely alone. I stared to cry again because i was hoping someone came home. i went to my room and back to my bed to cry ( yes I'm a very emotional person) and put my hands back under my pillow and found the picture of my dad.this picture was not there before. it wasn't even my picture it was my moms and it was in her photo album. A few Min. later my mom walked in the door. and i ran to hug her .(and yell at her for making me worry)

I know that the presence with me was my dad.Telling me not to worry, mom was on the way and that i was never alone!
I have since then felt my dad around when i need him.he also help my brother survive a rollover a few years back( his friend was severely hurt!) and my daughter when she was a baby saw him and played with him. I would walk in on her giggling away and talking baby talk to him in the hallway looking at the ceiling and waving to him.

after my dad passed i was put in counseling naturally and also speech therapy because all my dad spoke to me was BABY TALK!!

I have had several encounters of another kind. Some were actually harmful physically. It seems ghosts inhabit dwellings where some tragedy had taken place. I rented a house once and had to move because of the weird stuff happening including being clawed on my back while taking a bath. There were three distinct scratches that came out of no where. I later discovered from a neighbor that the previous tenant had committed suicide a few months before. That left me disturbed but got me more drawn to the supernatural. The journey continues...

I have a story one ive shared off an on through the years and few ever believe me lol..

I was about 14 at the time.. still really learning my path and it was Halloween.. i got invited to a friends house for a get together and i was excited. Ive always been really excited on Halloween and really at ease never thinking anything of it. Now i had never been to this friends house before and i got dropped off probably about 8pm and had a extremely uneasy feeling as i stepped out of the car. Course at that age i didn't think anything of it. except that i knew i didnt want to stay but chose to for sake of my friend since i couldn't explain why i wanted to leave.

She lived in a mobile home with a yard on eather side and a tree in the front yard which i couldn't stop staring at. We went into her house and hung out for a bit a few hours went by and about 10:31 i heard a noise from the first bedroom in the front of the house as we were sitting in the living room. I asked my friend she heard nothing and i tried to ignore it. I heard the sound a second time and i remember going completely still as a cold chill went down my spine. the next thing i knew i saw something run from the back room to the kitchen running past us sittin in the livin room.. which as it past.. the image of the house itself changed like glimpsing something that was but wasnt anymore. as i was focused on tryin to see the surrounding i heard a horrid scream and saw the person fall back as a defensive reaction to being attacked and then everything was silent even the cats in the house were in the corner mute..

Needless to stay i freaked out and tried to explain it to my friend she thought i was nuts and i started to panic and had to get out of the house so we went walking in the yard and something kept tugging me to the tree. so after wandering the yard i finally decided to brave the tree and walked over toward it stoppin about 3 feet from it and jsut stared and she had to shake me before i reacted and told her i needed to leave right then .. she demanded an explanation and the only thing i could tell her was .. there was something under the tree.. or next to it i could feel it.. i had my guesses but i never found out what...  they were going to look into they said... i never heard anything more... . but i can tell you that they moves suddenly about 2 or 3 weeks later  which no explanation.

This is a event that has stuck with me forever. I can still remember everything that happened and the layout of the house perfectly and it still gives me nervous jitters.

Here is OBE for you that is kind of strange. I was 10 years old when my grandfather past away. We were staying at his house the night he past. I remember waking up and seeing my grandfather walking through the hallway in the house I got up from the bed and followed him out to the side patio door which led to his tool shed he proceeded to go out through the patio doors and he said "sissy go back, "since it was really dark I decided to go back to bed as directed but when I got to the room door I noticed that there were two people in the bed (me and my sister slept together in the same room that night because there were alot of family members there and limited room) just as I moved towards the bed I felt strange and the next thing I knew I woke up in the bed and when I got up that morning  and went to the kitchen my mother told me that my papal had past away that night.  This has haunted me since. I truly believe that I had experienced an out of body moment where my grandfather kept me from following him to another place.......

When I was three and a half my grandfather died (I remember exactly when because it happened on my mother's birthday, which is almost exactly six months after mine).  I don't remember much from that time, my memory has always been bad, but my parents tell me that afterwords I would talk with him in my dreams (something that runs in the family on my grandfather and mother's side).  I would always talk about the nice man and his white dog, who later come to find out was my grandmother's prized dog Bandit, a small thing.  Whenever my mother talks about this, it seems she's filled with a hint of joy.  I do, however, remember waving goodbye to my Gran'pa as we drove away from the funeral.  He was standing on the lawn, which was green for once (this being the Nevada desert at the end of summer, that's hard to do) and waving back at me with his whole arm.

Back in '08, when my grandmother (his wife) passed away, I don't remember anything inherently supernatural, but again the funeral was at the same church in her hometown in Nevada and there were usual tears during and the celebration of life afterwords.  What was memorable, though, was that the desert bloomed.  And when I say bloomed, I want to you get the full meaning:  the entire valley was blanketed with wildflowers of various purples and reds and whites, with stems and leaves a healthy dark green color.  Something that only happens once in a lifetime.  It was so beautiful, it felt wrong to take a picture and cheapen the moment.  Within two weeks after the funeral, the flowers were all gone.

I have two.  The second one is longer so I'll post it a bit later, but here's the first for now.

My old house was my first experience with the paranormal.  I moved there when I was 11 and it was occupied by two ghosts: an older woman and her (very fat) ghost kitty.  The first time I saw the woman, I was unpacking things in my room and found my old keyboard.  I decided to play around with it.  Halfway through the song I was playing, I got a strange chill going up my spine.  It was an old Victorian house and my room had a separate attached room (I guess a dressing room of some sort) with huge windows.  I look over at the window and see my reflection, and standing over me was the old woman.  She was wearing a paisley dress and had a beehive hairdo.  Being that I was 11, I ran downstairs as fast as I could and told my mom.  Apparently it was my overactive imagination.

Every night should would walk into my room and around my bed.  I had a bead curtain in the doorway between the two rooms, and I would hear the floorboards creak to that door and the curtain would clink.  She would then walk out of my room, across the hall to the guestroom, and down the stairs.  The guestroom was the worst, as it ALWAYS felt off no matter what time of day.  Once when I went in there at night, I saw her peaking her head out at me from behind a rack of coats.

When I was 14 I got a kitten.  He liked sleeping on my bed on top of my legs at night.  One night, I was pretty scared as the woman was quite active (I heard her whispering and walking around more than usual) and called for my cat.  I felt him jump on the bed and curl up on my legs.  I reached down to pet him, but there was nothing there.  I could feel the pressure of something cat-shaped on my legs even when I felt for him.  I finally deduced it was a ghost kitty when one night, as I laid in bed, I looked over to my doorway and there was a very fat black cat sitting on the threshold cleaning his face.  I saw him a couple of times since.

I always got the feeling that the woman was very sad.  Sometimes I would be overcome by melancholy out of no where and feel very cold along with it.

Finally, when I was 16, my mom finally told me what was up.  Apparently in the 60's, there was an old woman who lived in the house alone that had no family left, other than a caretaker that would check on her.  Her room was the room I lived in.  One day she fell very ill and they cared for her in the guest room (again, the most off-feeling room in the whole house), where she then died.

Even though she scared me, I think she took a natural interest in me and my friends.  Unfortunately, after one night, no one really liked coming over to my house anymore.  Two of my friends were sharing a bed in the guestroom.  In the middle of the night, they both ran out, terrified, declaring that they saw a woman watching them from within the floor-length mirror in there.  In fact, nearly every person that came over was terrified of the place and wouldn't stay long.  The only person immune was my boyfriend.

It seems silly but I kind of miss the old lady and her ghost cat.  At least I get a good night's sleep now.

A few weeks ago my husband, two year-old son and I travelled to NC to visit with my in-laws who are packing and readying to  move into a retirement community in June.  We no longer stay with my in-laws for safety reasons, but spend a good amount of time at the house.  The house is a 100 year old Southern house set on a piece of land near Bennett Place (where the Civil War actually ended, not Appomatox).  Needless to say there is much history on the land and in the house.  While were there one afternoon our son became rather upset about something so I picked him up and walked around the house and he pointed to my fil's study and said, "There, Mommy" so in we walked and we both saw a weird mist/shadow type "thing" in the farthest corner near the ceiling.  Before I could register what it was, it zipped into the back of the closet.  Even my son asked, "Mommy, who was that?".  My husband walked in a few seconds later and I told him about it and he told me we'd talk about it later after we got back to his sister's house (where we were staying).

That evening after dinner and a bottle of wine, my husband brought up what my son and I had seen in Pop's study and my sil turned ashen white.  Apparently ghosts of the South were a common appearance at the house while they were growing up.  My husband said that one used to tuck him in at night and that occasionally there was unexplained light emmanating from his closet in the middle of the night.  Up until he was a teen and he felt something breathe on his neck did he have experiences.  He told the "ghost" it didn't belong here and never had another problem.

My sil had a different story.  One night she was awake in the middle of the night she heard heavy footsteps coming up the stairs.  She said she watched her door open slowly and a man in an early 20's style suit and hat walked in with a very puzzled look on his face.  She said she could make out his features and he took his hat off and wiped his brow and she screamed, he disappeared.  She also didn't sleep in her room alone ever again.  She went off to UNC a few years later.  My husband joked that he was going to miss the ghosts when his folks leave.  I've never felt "alone" in that house but never threatened.  I wonder if things will amp up in the house as time for them to move gets closer...
