Could anyone give me some advice on a problem I've been having? I'm up late every night, usually to midnight. Over about the past week, I've noticed that at around 10:30 each night (give or take five minutes) the temperature in my bedroom plummets dramatically. Normally, I would just say that it's normal, as the nights can get pretty cool, even in SoCal. However, I remain cold, especially my hands and feet, however many layers of clothing I put on. I've tried putting on slippers, a jacket, and even gloves once. I'm still cold. By the time I crawl into bed at midnight, my room is positively frigid, and I'm shivering. The only way I've found to get warm again is to crawl completely under all my blankets, without even my head showing. Even then, it takes me quite a while for my hands and feet to warm up enough for me to sleep.

I think it started after I went into meditation on Imbolg. When meditating, are there protections you should use, to avoid unpleasant side effects like this afterward? Or is there an obvious solution that I'm overlooking? Thanks so much, and blessed be.

Greetings,

Lets start with the mundane first. Moisture in the air can make if feel colder. The later it gets the colder it will get. Check your heat vent to make sure its not clogged. Purchase some hand warmers and put then between two pairs of socks. Get a heating pad and place it at the core of your back. Keep two hand warmers in your pockets of your bath robe or use between your hands and some mittens. Then at the height of the cold temperature take a candle and walk every inch of your room checking plug outlets, windows and window frames. When the flame gets too active there is the source and you can then fix the problem. We have also had various storm fronts that have moved in that have made drastic temperature changes. This is also the coldest time of the year. With that said and done. Cleansing would not hurt.

Love,
Fox

Now, for the not so mundane lol

Meditation can attract spirits and entities, so it's always a good idea to meditate within a circle. You may have attracted something bad or cold-relarted. Could be anything really. as medicinefox said, a cleansing wouldn't hurt. Try using salt

I think medicinefox has the gist of it, desert climates get pretty cold at night and the whole left coast has been under a storm spree lately.
But, if you seek a mystical responce; have you tried shifting some of your energy (chi, Ki, chakra, kundalini or what have you) around? Maybe some devious sprite knocked something up in there? Try shifting things around during meditation. Or do it the ol fashioned way; rub your hands together for afew seconds to summon up some physical energy within them. Then slowly draw the energy from your 'main reserve' in your core and shift it down to your feet and again up into your hands.

I think it started after I went into meditation on Imbolg.

I'm a little uncertain as to what you're explaining here; are you saying that you've been meditating on a regular basis since then, or that you've only had these cold experiences after your meditation at that time? Commonly observable results of meditation may include:

  • Relaxation of muscles
  • Drop in blood pressure (particularly as a result of relaxing muscle tissue, allowing greater retention of blood)
  • Lowered heart rate
  • Slower respiratory function
  • Notable alterations in neural brainwave patterns (as ranges shift, depending on the experience / methods of the individual, between any variations of Alpha, Beta, Delta, and Theta states)

When you consider the physiological effects of meditation, it is quite understandable that one would feel cooler or cold as a result of lowered blood pressure and muscle relaxation. With a lower heart rate, blood circulation provides less warm blood throughout the body, and outer areas, such as the hands, feet, ears, etc. which usually regulate cooling, will become quite cold.

If I might offer a suggestion on resolving this issue, you may want to consider drinking warm / hot tea or herbal infusions after meditation, to increase your internal body temperature, and perhaps exposing your hands and feet to artificial / natural heating for a short while during the cold times; even if this means pouring hot water into a shallow container to soak your feet in, and a basin of warm water for your hands.

Whilst it might not be a "solution", it will help you keep warmer until you can get to bed. Wink

Just another thought. If the rest of the house is fine and its only your room. Have you bought anything of late or around the time you have been having problems from a second hand store, flea market or thrift shop of late, like a piece of furniture, picture or nicknack or has anyone given you anything?

If so, on any of the questions, that could be where your problem stems. Cleansing the item or removing the item or both may help.
